A gift from an Angel

Its amazing how with a life lost, theres always a life gained. Its amazing how when you lose a friend, you gain a new friend. Its amazing how life no matter what you think what you believe life always gives you back maybe the smallest thing, but the right and happy thing back in some way. Taylor died six months ago. A thirteen year old perhaps she was to young to have a huge influence on people. But she did before and after her death.
Taylor lost her life on the last run of a family skiing vacation at Beaver Creek Resort in Colorado, leading to her death. Any death is probably the hardest to hear if your ones parent. I can only imagine, but even that is to little.
"She was so giving, and that choice was very, very easy". The doctors asked Taylor's dad if he would like to donate the organs, and without any hesitation he said yes.
If you believe in Angels, Taylor is an angel to Patricia Winters. Patricia Winters has cardiomyopathy. She was sleeping 18 hours a day, she knew it wasn't too long till her time was up. She has two young sons, and their mother was dying. Taylor's heart was donated to Patricia Winters. And everything was confidential you'll never know who's heart you received or to whom you gave your heart too.
The first thing Patricia asked after the surgery. "Who's is that girl". Within twenty four hours she found out who's heart she received. And not a moment would she not think about her. She was now apart of her. Patricia would watch Taylor's videos, and look at her pics often. She received a gift from a stranger, a teenager, a Angel.
It took Patricia six months to meet Taylor's mom. Taylor's mom was Taylor's best friend. But she knew Taylor was still around. She took her head and put it on Patricia chest and listened to her daughters heart beat. And through the tears she knew that Taylor was their "She's so strong".

I think I saw this story on GMA, and I couldn't stop crying. It's very sad but also amazing at how through death, life is continued. Though Taylor died (very tragically) she enabled a young mother to still live, as her heart is what's sustaining Patricia. Remarkable! And the part of Taylor's mom listening to her daughter's heart beat one more time, is so emotional it chills me to the core...I'm getting teary-eyed just thinking about it. Taylor's gift is incredible...God bless

This story almost put me to tears. It is honestly amazing just how sincere and nice people really are in this world. This teenager, not even that many years younger than us had impacted someone else's life so much. She was so innocent and on a vacation, a time when you are supposed to have fun. Yet, such a tragedy had to occur to her. I am glad that that Patricia still keeps in touch with Taylor's family as it gives Taylor's mom the opportunity to listen to her daughter's heart beat. Taylor was truly an angel and may god bless her.

This is a great story! It is inspirational and I highly respect those who are willing to donate their organs to save others' lives! I myself have a grandfather who had a similar procedure done to him and we are eternally greatful to the donor and his family.

Most heros are heros because of thier actions or personality. This young girl was a hero because she saved the life of another, even after hers was gone.

Wow Nayeem,
You really put me to tears with this story. I am usually a very tough person and never cry but this just got to me. I can’t stop thinking about this story. I don’t understand where or how some people find the courage to give up an organ. The only people that I could ever think of giving an organ to are my loved ones. I think this story teaches us not to be selfish. It also teaches us to leave something behind in this world that can making a lasting impact on someone’s life. What better way to do this than whole-heartedly giving up your heart. In my opinion, Taylor’s father is also an angel because he just saw his daughter leave this world, which can be argued as the hardest thing for a parent to see, and he did something even harder. He donated something that is as precious to him as it is to his daughter. The reason that I think he did this is because he saw that he couldn’t do anything to save his daughters life and he made up for it by saving someone else’s. This was the best way for him to make up for what he has lost. Also, this is his way of having a part of his daughter still alive. Nayeem, this is a very profound story and now I can’t fall asleep because I keep thinking about this.
Return the favor by commenting back please. thanks

Thats actually so crazy, i once watched a movie that had the same concept behind it as this story. and its true that when someone donates a vital organ such as a heart, when they die, a part of them (figuratively) lives with the person who accepts it. Its sad that the girl died but she saved a life and that's a great thing to do.

I may be atheistic, but if there was a God then God should better send Taylor up to heaven:/ I wish more people were this nice, and sadly I don't have the courage to donate organs (yet).

wow, this story is really inspiring and I think it is amazing how a girl even in her death can affect so many lives and help touch people's hearts even literally. I think it goes to show that any action that someone takes is really affecting other people whether they think it is or not. she is truly an angel!
